November Neighbor Paint Night - Patriotic Night Sky

There were 2 great patriotic paintings we wanted to do for our paint night but this is the one we ended up choosing,

found on YouTube.

To me, it was a lot easier to watch than to actually paint. Getting the blue corner for the stars was tricky to determine the size. Splattering the paint, I tried with my thumb on a brush and another way of tapping a brush handle against another brush handle

My neighbor Peggy is trying the brush handle tapping method and its working out pretty well it seems.

Once I got my red and white stripes painted, I tapped my brush over the blue. Of course white flecks of paint went everywhere. I did try to do the stars before I did my red and white stripes but it didn't go very well and I ended up having to repaint over a lot of my blue square to try again. I did have to do some touchup on the stripes but that seemed easier than my previous method.  I did not tape my stripes off or draw light lines with pencil, thus the uneven look to them.

The tree was harder than I thought it would be. Trees seem to be a theme of what we have painted a lot of this year and I am still not good at them. Granted, only trying once a month or so does not allow for much practice. Trees are something I'd like to get better at and I am sure I'll have more chances in the future.

Overall I think these all turned out really cool looking. Our trees and starry blue squares turned out so different! Any guesses to which one is mine? You can probably tell from the photo above though so feel free to look there for a hint 😉

Stay tuned to see what we paint in December!

Flag red is the paint I used but that doesnt seem to be in stock on Amazon right now so this color red will work fine if you'd like

White paint that will be good
