My friend Heather told me about a cool way to paint rocks and I agree, it is a fun look to do the paint base layer in this way. Keep reading to see how this is done.
On a clean rock, put down a variety of dots of acrylic paint. Big, small, various sizes are fine - all over the rock.
I don't have a great photo of this part but lay a piece of plastic wrap over the rock and smoosh the paint around. Once you have it flattened enough and the paint spread out to cover the rock, slowly peel back the plastic wrap to get this neat look!
I used a white rock I found at the beach for this next project
Dropping the dots of paint all over the rock to smoosh around under plastic wrap
Ta-da! Now, to come up with how to decorate on top of that.
I used these super cool paints by DecoArt called Deco Earth which is made from recycled house paint.
The coverage is superb and it dries surprisingly quick. I am a big fan of the colors I won at the Society of Wildflowers conference in July & can't wait to acquire more.
Top off the rock with a word written in Sharpie or paint pens and add some Diamond Dotz for a fun effect.

What color combination would you try this out with?
